Javier González

Javier Gonzalez is an Affiliated Lecturer and PhD Researcher at the Centre of Development Studies, University of Cambridge. Additionally, he is Associated Researcher at the Centre for New Development Thinking, University of Chile, and Columnist in La Tercera newspaper. He has been Cabinet Advisor on Education and Innovation Policy to the Chilean Ministry of Finance, Executive Secretary to the Ministers’ Council for Advanced Human Capital Formation, Director of Studies at the National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research (CONICYT), Researcher at Chile’s Ministry of Education, Board Member of Fundación Chile, and International Consultant to UNESCO, OXFAM and the World Bank. Javier holds a PhD(c) and MPhil in Development Studies (University of Cambridge), and holds a BA and MA in Economics (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile). His main research interests are: economic and social development, inequality and social mobility, political and institutional economics, welfare states, and education policy
