Daniela Vicherat

Dr. Daniela Vicherat Mattar is Assistant Professor in Sociology in the Global Challenges Program of Leiden University College in The Hague, the Netherlands, where she teaches courses related to citizenship and diversity. Her research interests focus on the interplay between the urban environment (for instance public spaces and walls) and different forms of collective actions, as well as the apparent divide between the private and the public domains and how it is materialised  in the urban landscape.

Daniela has a bachelor in Sociology from Pontificia Universidad Católica, Chile and a Master in Social and Political Thought from the University of Warwick (UK). She completed her PhD in the Department of Social and Political Science of the European University Institute (Florence, Italy) and was Marie-Curie post-doctoral fellow at the University of Edinburgh (UK). Professionally, she has worked as policy consultant for non-governmental, governmental, and international organizations in Chile and Spain.  At the moment, she is a board member of the United Network of Young Peace-builders, UNOY.

In Encuentros 2015, Daniela is sub-director for the session on Social Equality.
