Carolina is doctor(c) in Neuroscience of Language by the Erasmus University Rotterdam, Netherlands. She specializes in the use of advanced neuroimaging techniques to observe language processing in the brain, both under normal conditions and in the presence of pathologies. Two central goals of her research are to better understand how patients who become aphasic after a stroke may benefit from different language therapies and how to detect language lateralization in patients with tumors before they undergo surgery.
Carolina was born in Santiago de Chile and studied Speech and Language Therapist at Universidad Mayor. In 2007, she moved to the Netherlands with an academic excellence scholarship from the University of Utrecht to study a master’s degree in Cognitive Neuroscience in that institution.
